Sy, Lead Executive for Design, Innovation, and Strategy at SM Prime Holdings, Inc. and SM Development Corp., is a leading figure in sustainable and resilient property development. Her innovative approach integrates disaster risk reduction (DRR) into every phase of SMDC’s projects.

This commitment stems from personal experience witnessing the devastating impact of natural calamities in the Philippines, coupled with her extensive architectural background.

Jica’s architectural expertise is grounded in practical experience and academic achievements. At Plus Architecture, Australia, she progressed from Architectural Student to Graduate of Architecture, contributing to diverse projects and overseeing developments from initial concept to government approvals.

This unique blend of design expertise and business acumen informs her holistic approach to sustainable development.

Her approach to DRR extends beyond structural resilience. It prioritizes social fabric strengthening, advocating for community centers, green spaces, and shared amenities within SMDC projects. SMDC’s community-building programs—focused on health and wellness, entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship, and employment—further demonstrate this commitment. Economic inclusivity is also central; Jica emphasizes making homeownership accessible to more Filipinos through an incremental approach, addressing economic disparities. Her leadership role allows her to influence design, innovation, and strategy across numerous initiatives.

Jica’s influence extends internationally.
