Mortgage moves: 5 Top financial assistance tips if you lose your job in Singapore

Seeking financial assistance on how to manage your mortgage is likely one of the top concerns if you’re a homeowner who has been retrenched.

In late 2023 and early 2024, we saw a wave of tech layoffs. While the number of retrenchments in Singapore held steady in Q2 2024 (with 3,100 retrenchments compared to 3,030 in Q1 2024) and the National Day Rally 2024 announcements revealed there will be temporary financial assistance of up to SGD6,000 for those involuntarily unemployed, we must be prepared for the unexpected.

With such uncertainty still lingering, it’s important to prepare for how you would cope with your mortgage payments if you were forced to take a pay cut or, worse – lose your job. If this happens to you and you need advice on your mortgage, the truth is that there are no easy fixes. But according to PropertyGuru Singapore, here are five things you should do immediately.

Climate change is defined as a change in global or regional temperature and weather patterns. It is largely attributed to increased greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from various human activities.

Some of the effects of climate change in Malaysia today include rising sea levels leading to floods, increased heat islands, landslides, and a shift in the monsoon seasons.

PropertyGuru Malaysia shows you how climate change should influence your property choices.

Art deco design a nod to the history of Southport, Australia

The architect behind one of the Gold Coast’s newest hotels has given a nod to the area’s heritage with a unique art deco and coastal-influenced design.

Work on the AUD50 million Quest Southport recently kicked off in Southport on a 1012 sqm site.

MAS Architect Studio’s leading architect Nick Symonds has taken inspiration from local buildings including Southport Town Hall, The Cecil Hotel, and Granton House to design the 10-storey, 90-unit hotel, with a rooftop pool.

“With Quest Southport, we have perfected ‘art deco coastal’,” Mr Symonds said in realcommercial.com.au. “It’s a playful modern twist on art deco design, with sweeping curves, a strong sense of symmetry, and bold geometry, that still recognises the hotel’s unique coastal location.”
