Saudi Arabia reveals designs for world’s tallest sports tower in Riyadh

The board of directors of the Sports Boulevard Foundation (SBF), chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, who also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, has approved the designs for the Global Sports Tower. This prominent landmark will be part of the broader Sports Boulevard project located along Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road.

According to Economy Middle East, the Global Sports Tower is set to become the tallest sports tower in the world, standing at an impressive height of 130 meters. With a total internal area of 84,000 square meters, the tower will house more than 30 different sports facilities, including the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall measuring 98 meters. This wall will cater to climbers of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals, offering them the opportunity to enjoy this rapidly growing sport. The tower will be crowned with the world’s highest running track, a fully digitized circuit of 250 meters, providing athletes with a unique training experience while enjoying panoramic views of Riyadh.

Philippine Tourism Dept. hails Apayao designation in UNESCO biosphere reserves list

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has welcomed the recent inclusion of Apayao in UNESCO’s World Network of Biosphere Reserves, which is the fourth in the Philippines to be recognized by the international body, PNA reports.

UNESCO approved the designation of 11 new biosphere reserves, including the Apayao Biosphere Reserve in the Philippines during the 36th session of the International Coordinating Council of the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme (ICC MAB) in Agadir, Morocco on 5th July 2024. These new designations bring the World Network of Biosphere Reserves to 759 sites in 136 countries.

“The DOT extends its heartfelt congratulations to the province of Apayao for being recognized as the fourth ‘biosphere reserve’ in the Philippines by a body of the United Nations,” Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said.
